In the Workplace
The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is committed to ensuring that its learning and working environments are free from all forms of discrimination and harassment. Complaints about discrimination and harassment in the workplace are received and addressed by OVCDEI’s Office for Access & Equity. Complaint resolution can take a number of paths, including formal and informal investigations.
The Office for Access and Equity, in collaboration with the Title IX Office, responds to reports and complaints alleging violations of the university’s Sexual Misconduct Policy by employees or other individuals. Based on Race, Color, or National Origin
The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign believes in creating an academic community that celebrates and supports the identities, cultures and faiths of all members of our university. The university has designated a campus coordinator to respond to complaints that pertain to Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and to coordinate efforts reasonably calculated to eliminate any hostile environment, remedy its effects, and prevent its recurrence. Complaints about behavior that may constitute discrimination, harassment, or retaliation on the basis of race, color, or national origin, including shared ancestry or ethnic characteristics, are received and addressed by the university’s Title VI Office.
On the Basis of Disability
The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is committed to ensuring equal access to information, programs, and activities and an inclusive environment for all individuals. The university’s ADA Coordinator’s office addresses reports of noncompliance and discrimination on the basis of disability, as well as barriers to access both in physical facilities and in digital/online contexts.
Response to Student Misconduct
The Office for Student Conflict Resolution in Student Affairs supports a safe and secure university environment that is conducive to academic success by administering the Student Code, promoting ethical decision making, encouraging personal and social responsibility, and facilitating the effective resolution of conflict. OSCR also offers free and private alternative conflict resolution services to any University of Illinois student in situations where both parties agree to participate in conflict resolution.
Concerns about Negative Behaviors and Sense of Belonging
Campus Belonging Bias Response is a resource focused on addressing bias incidents that impact the campus community. Through its educational and reporting processes, Campus Belonging encourages understanding of others’ perspectives, identities, and lived experiences. Our processes are designed with the goal of ensuring that the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is an equitable and inclusive community for all.
