Each January, the university community hosts a variety of events and celebrations to honor the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

One event is the countywide celebration which is a partnership with the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, the local communities of Champaign, Urbana, Rantoul, Champaign County, and Parkland College. This event includes the presentation of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Fulfilling “The Dream” scholarship, which is awarded to local students based on essay submissions.
